One way to think about the GOP/MAGA strategy to tip the scales in the 2026 midterms is to view it through biblical precedence. The best analogy is the oft-referenced “wisdom of Solomon” story. Two women, who lived in the same household, gave birth within three days of each other. One of the babies did not survive, after which each mother claimed that the remaining child was hers. They asked King Solomon to resolve the issue. When the King suggested they cut the baby in half, one woman agreed to the compromise, justifying her choice, saying, “If we both cannot have a child, neither of us should.” The other woman, putting the baby’s well-being above her own interests, told Solomon to give the child to her rival. Of course, Solomon rightly gave the baby to the woman who demonstrated her willingness to give up the newborn rather than see it harmed.
Therefore, when King Donald, being the world’s foremost self-proclaimed biblical scholar, looked for a way to solidify his less than safe majority in the U.S. House of Representatives after his 2024 return to power, he immediately opened his “God Bless the USA” Bible to 1 Kings 3:16-28.
24And the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So a sword was brought before the king. 25And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.”
After which, King Trump called Greg Abbott, the ruler of the province of Texas, and shared his plan to relocate half the MAGA supporters in a heavily pro-MAGA district to a less loyal district. Abbott, not sure he understood the concept, asked, “And how exactly will that work, my Lord?” To which, King Donald wove an example.
Remember the area we refer to as TX-15. In 2024, our representative Monica De La Cruz won re-election by 14.2 percent even though the district is 81.4 percent Hispanic, a clear sign we have flipped the Latino vote. We take the three rural sub-provinces–Live Oak, Karnes, and Wilson–and make them part of the two districts that elected Dumocrats Henry Cuellar of Laredo and Vicente Gonzalez of McAllen.
Abbott smiled. “Brilliant, my Lord. I will make it so with a special session of the province assembly.” And as promised, on the 29th day of the month of August in the year of our Lord 2025, Abbott did sign the proclamation that relocated the citizens of TX-15 to the areas known as TX-28 and TX-34.
The story does not end there. On the 3rd of November, 2026, a miracle occurred. Henry Cuellar won re-election in TX-28 with 65.8 percent of the votes, 13 percentage points HIGHER than his margin two years earlier. The same held true for Vincente Gonzales in TX-34. He won re-election with 55.6 percent of ballots cast. As for Monica De La Cruz in the now diluted TX-15 district, she lost her bid for re-election by a margin of 24.6 percentage points. If only she had told King Donald, “My Lord, do not cut my district in half.” Perhaps she too might have been rewarded for her selflessness. And for his role in this debacle, Governor Abbott was henceforth banished from the village of Austin.
Similar tales unfolded in the provinces of North Carolina and even Florida, King Donald’s adopted province. Like Texas, the Florida provincial assembly and the provincial governor Ron DeSantis likewise adopted King Donald’s relocation edict. As a result, the King’s castle, Mar-a-Lago, became part of the area known as FL-22 with new boundaries to ensure a MAGA victory. However, for the last two years of his reign, King Donald will be represented in the House by Dumocrat Pia Dandiya who defeated her Republican opponent Casey Askar by 2.8 percentage points.
The moral of this story? “Love of political power is the root of all stupidity.” Amen.
For what it’s worth.
